Wonderland
Pictures is a
full-service mobile screening unit that provides outdoor film programs
for state, local and community organizations, as well as civic
and non-profit specialty screening presentations.
The program was created in 2004 and the first packaged program
was a CLINT EASTWOOD festival that screened in two urban locations
in Washington Dc - Farragut Square and Georgetown. The outdoor
screenings were so successful that the program was expanded to
an urban screening format that screened indie films around the
city - on the sides of downtown office buildings, the sides of
trucks, painted and stacked sea shipping containers... just about
any surface that could be converted.
WP has shown wonderful programs of indie annimators that ran from
2am until 5am on rooftops around the Washington DC area and has
produced the wonderful CLINT EASTWOOD series
four times in Washington, Georgetown, Crystal City and Rosslyn,
Virginia. Our goal has been to turn under-utilized urban environments
into film screening settings within 5 hours, and to do so in a
way that embraces the community, builds on local culture and supports
the rigths of humans to assemble anywhere, at anytime... to watch
anything.
We encourage volunteers, we support general wacky hijinx on the
film nights and we encourage folks to express themselves with few
rules. The ODDJOB and BOND challenges this season are examples
of integrating the outdoor film experience with a fun, creative
program that encourages creativity from the audience and supports
art, theatre, film... and meeting up with your friends and neighbors
in a friendly, fun atmosphere. As usual, all picnic activities
are encouraged, and we applaude kooky picnic concepts.
