The
Georgetown Film Festival, 2001 - It was a wonderful idea
and a great effort by so many people, all tucked into a little
alley in Georgetown, in a space that had lain empty for 15 years
until we stumbled into it. The Festival has a remarkable track
record and so many people have passed across our screens who
are now in Hollywood or in Berlin, Aspen or London, or Cairo
or Bangkok still making the wonderful films and keeping in touch
with the Festival and Festival Alumni...
We are still looking for a home similar to the look and feel of
the space you see above. Developers and land speculators have got
hold of our little theatre, which was inevitable, and are turning
the property into a retail space, so we are looking elsewhere,
across the city and all over the area to find the right urban environment
to open back up in 2010. We have many, many filmmakers and writers
who have been so loyal and supportive and are helping in many,
many ways to locate the right space for us... we may find
a home very soon, so keep in touch, check back often. We WILL be doing midnight theatre this summer around town...
We are taking submissions for 2009, but we may find that we'll
be screening in some pretty odd spaces just like we did in 2008...
which will only add to the urban focus in a good way!
